Sustained Support

Dr. Michelle E. La Monte

The biggest struggle for educators is not learning new effective strategies, but implementing them.  Sustained support is my long-term commitment to the implementation of the data-based action plan.  It is characterized by personalized coaching and technical assistance to help educators implement best-practice strategies.  This professional development, embedded in the school day, involves regularly scheduled in-person meetings to ensure successful implementation. This is achieved through conversations about student learning data, structured observation, goal setting, discussion, reflection and collaborative problem solving.  Sustained support may also involve side-by-side support during the process of teaching to model instructional practices.
